Camp for blind people in Balatonföldvár - August 2022.
Between August 21-26. we organized our camp for blind people in Balatonföldvár with the participation of 54 people. We are glad that the Covid situation did not intervene and the volunteer team of the American 2Rivers Church was also able to come, who were of great help to our Hungarian volunteer team, which had already expanded.
In the framework of the morning and evening devotions, we prayed with the participants and studied the Bible under the guidance of specialists experienced in theology and religious practice. István Durkó, the mission director of the Hungarian Baptist Church, and Andrea Bokros, the head of the Special Mission of the Hungarian Baptist Church, honored our camp with their presence and teaching. The blind people could testify to their faith. Seven people in the camp accepted Jesus into their hearts as Savior. Music was also an integral part of these devotions.
Although the weather played a trick on us, we didn't miss swimming in Balaton, which seems natural to sighted people, but making a beach "accessible" and safe for a blind people is not an easy task. With the help of our volunteers and professionals, we solved this too, giving the campers a lasting experience.
Sailing on the Balaton in the summer sunset - with the help of the narration of our experts. The campers could experience this as well. An unusual experience for both the sighted and the blind.
In addition to sailing, one of the most anticipated programs was visiting the Rádpuszta Experience Estate. On this complex program, we traveled on a small sightseeing train, rode in a horse-drawn carriage, and had real Hungarian food and drinks for dinner in the inn. Everyone had a great time.
As in previous years, the camp went very well. The participants were enthusiastic, enjoyed and looked forward to the programs. By the end of the camp, the whole team had become a liberated, loose and united community.
Thank you very much for your prayers and financial support!
